How does Buy Here Pay Here work?

At 4th Street Auto, we want the customer to choose the car, truck or SUV. We don't try to push you into a vehicle. All our prices are posted on all our cars and online. How do I get approved?

Proof of income. To qualify for a buy here pay here car loan, you'll need to prove that you have a steady source of income. Bring things like Pay stubs, bank statements, be able to access pay records online, provide a contact at work to verify your job. Letters from government describing SSI income or payments of child support are useful too.

Proof of insurance. You'll need to have proof of insurance for your new vehicle. We require a binder or declaration page showing the full coverage insurance and the lienholder information. Unsure of what to ask your agent, any of our salespeople will help you through it. Deductibles are usually $500 or less.

Proof of identity. A valid Drivers license is the best method of your identity. Having your social security card, passport or state ID can help too.

Down Payment. 4th Street Auto requires a down payment. We typically get 25% of the asking price. Talk with our salespeople about what you have to work with and they will try to help you find a car that meets your needs.

Proof of residence. To qualify for a loan, you'll usually need to provide proof of residence. Current utility bill in your name and registered to the address on the photo ID, and current bank statements for the past two months, also in your name and registered at the same address will suffice. Have the name and number of your landlord if possible. We try to stay as close as possible to the Metro Louisville area or within a 40 mile radius.

Trade-in documentation (if applicable). If you are trading in a vehicle then you should have the title and registration papers for your vehicle. If the owner of the trade in is someone other than yourself then make sure they are with you. DO NOT SIGN A TITLE BEFORE YOU HAVE THE DEAL FINALIZED. If you bought the trade-in but have not completed the transfer then you will need to do that before purchasing.

References. We typically get six references with names addresses and phone numbers. They should know you, where you live and where you work. Three family references and three personal references are the norm.
